Is he dead? You see a painter has so much more talent when he's dead. Indeed, the deader he is, the better he is. Just look at this Rembrandt fellow. He must have been good in his day. Since he died? He's incomparable! Worth millions!

John - A starving artist who never quite got down the selling part. After a meeting with a portrait dealer, and a former friend to whom he owes a lot of money, he gets the idea to kill himself off and sell his paintings for much more. It was actually Chicago's idea. The catch? John has to dress up like his twin sister, a woman that didn't even existent before now. Daisy Rue.
Chicago - The not-so-well off best friend of John. It was really his idea to kill John off, and then have them both reap in the benefits. When John "died" he left the portrait selling to Chicago, and the money to his sister. John's painting sell for a lot. All Chicago had to do was bribe the award journalist into writing a complimentary column, and viola!
Marie - John's girlfriend, and newly single. She was heart broken when John "died" and clings to his sister Daisy, just because she reminds of him so much. Little does she know, it actually IS him.
Cecile - Chicago's girlfriend, and Marie's sister. She thinks Chicago and Daisy are too close for people that just meet. Even if they'd been old friends. Cecile's his girlfriend, not this Daisy girl. Cecile is determined to find out what their history it.
